About the event
The theme of ANARKY 2019 is “Disruptive Anthropology”. We invite submissions that demonstrate the correlative or interrelating aspects of biological anthropology, socio-cultural anthropology, and archaeology, as well as submissions that utilize methods, theories, and approaches evoking the unusual, idiosyncratic and disruptive nature of anthropology as a discipline. Anthropology finds itself in a time of metamorphosis. The classic division of knowledge into the domains of language, culture, politics, and biology is under scrutinWe invite submissions that demonstrate the correlative or interrelating aspects of biological anthropology, socio-cultural anthropology, and archaeology, as well as submissions that utilize methods, theories, and approaches evoking the unusy. As we move into a more inclusive and interconnected academic landscape, it is necessary to reassess our ways of knowing and to tear down sub-disciplinary walls. ANARKY seeks to disrupt the status quo by dismantling structures within the discipline that discourage collaboration across the sub-fields, and encourage diversity in thought, method, and focus.
